Oreo Cookies & Defunding Planned Parenthood

Yesterday, Trump’s administration took it upon themselves to advance a rule that would deny Title X funding to any reproductive health clinic that provides or discusses abortion with their patients, so you know, I did what any red-blooded American feminist homebody would do: woke up, cleaned my kitchen, and made a shitload of these cookies.

I found this recipe from Dinner, Then Dessert (pasted below).

First, dump 12 cookies in the food processer and pulse them, pretending that each cookie is a member of Trump’s administration who told him it was a good idea to start meddling in the relationships doctors have with their patients.

Then, chop up 14 Oreo cookies into little tiny pieces, like you’re a member of HHS and the cookies are the bucket of Title X money that goes to Planned Parenthood for life-saving care like cancer screenings and STI testing.

Now it’s time to cream together 2 full sticks of softened butter and the sugar, because god damn it, the Trump administration is trying to make it almost impossible for low-income people to access life-saving care BECAUSE OF COURSE THEY ARE.

Next, add the flour, baking soda, oreo crumbs, and salt, and mix it all together. Eat some of the batter, because you’ve been thinking too much about how many fake women’s health centers that outwardly brag about trying to trick and lie to people who need information about their reproductive health get money WHILE YOUR LOCAL ACTUAL CLINIC IS ABOUT TO HAVE THEIR FUNDING CUT LAKJSLDKJALFKJLSDKJF

Now go ahead and add those chunks to the cookie dough, then slip it in the fridge for an hour, and maybe, if you’re me, sign up to increase your monthly contribution to Planned Parenthood in the hopes that if this rule is instated, maybe donations will help make it more affordable to access care.

Time to bake ’em! Roll the dough into little balls, and place ~ 2″ apart on a cookie sheet, then dry them on cooling racks.

(Please ignore the propane gas tanks in this photo, we bought summer camping supplies the other day and because I’m lazy I haven’t put them away yet.)
Enjoy! These cookies are extremely sweet, so I could only eat one before I felt like I had enough, but TBH, if you ate 6, I wouldn’t judge you, because they’re also really good. I bet they’d be delicious dunked in super dark chocolate, with black coffee, or with just a glass of milk.
